Requirements Needed To Change KRA Email Address

To be able to change your KRA Email on KRA Portal or iTax Portal, there are a set of two important and crucial requirements that you need to ensure that have with you. This includes; KRA PIN Number, KRA Password and a new KRA Email. We shall look at what these three requirements needed to change KRA Email entails in a much broader way below. 

• KRA PIN Number

• KRA Password

How To Change KRA Email Using KRA Portal

Step 1: Visit KRA Portal

The first step that you need to take in the process of Changing KRA Email is to visit KRA Portal web address using https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal in your browser.

Step 2: Enter Your KRA PIN Number in the PIN/User ID Section

In this step, you will need to enter your KRA PIN Number. If you have forgotten your KRA PIN, you can request for KRA PIN Retrieval here at Cyber.co.ke Portal and your KRA PIN will be sent to your email address immediately. Once you have entered your KRA PIN, click on the “Continue” button to proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Enter KRA Password and Solve Arithmetic Question (Security Stamp)

In this step, you will be required to enter your KRA Password and also solve the arithmetic question (security stamp). If you have forgotten your KRA Password, you can check our article on How To Reset KRA Password. A new password will be sent to your email and you can use it to login. Once you have entered your iTax Password, click on the “Login” button to access your KRA Portal Account.

Step 4: KRA Portal Account Dashboard

Once you have entered the correct KRA Password and solved the arithmetic question (security stamp) as illustrated in Step 3 above, you will be logged in successfully and be able to see and access your KRA Portal Account Dashboard. Since we want to change the Email on KRA Portal or iTax Portal, we proceed to step 5 below. 

Step 5: Click On The Registration Menu Tab Followed By Amend PIN Details

In this step, you will need to click on the “Registration” menu tab and from the dropdown list of the menu list items, click on “Amend KRA PIN Details.”

Step 6: Select The Mode of Amendment in the e-Amendment of Registration Form

In this step, you will need to select the Mode of Amendment. In our case, we shall select the Online Form mode since want to change the KRA Email on KRA Portal. You can also choose to use the Upload Form mode of amendment but we prefer that you use the Online Form mode of amendment. The other fields on the e-Amendment of Registration Form such as the Applicant Type, Taxpayer Name and Taxpayer Name are automatically pre-filled by the system. Once you have selected the mode of amendment, click on the “Next” button.

Step 7: Fill In The Individual Registration Amendment Form

Next, you will need to fill in the Individual Registration Amendment form by selecting PIN and Basic Information tabs on the online form. This is because KRA Email part is located under Basic Information in the Individual Registration form Principal Contact Details. Once you have selected the two fields, click on the “Submit” button. This is as illustrated below.

Step 8: Under Basic Information section, Scroll to Principal Contact Details Section 

Under the Basic Information tab, you will need to scroll down to the Principal Contact Details part. Under the Main Email Address, type in your new email address that you want to be using in KRA Portal. This is the new KRA Email that will also be displayed on your KRA PIN Certificate once you have successfully changed the current KRA Email on KRA Portal to a new KRA Email. This is as shown below.

For the new KRA Email to be accepted on KRA Portal, you will have to verify the same KRA Email by clicking on the Send OTP button. After doing so, you will receive an OTP that will be used to validate and authenticate your new KRA Email on the KRA Portal. 

Step 9: Enter The Generated KRA OTP Verification For KRA Email Verification

In your new KRA Mail, check for the KRA OTP Verification Code sent there. This is basically to inform you that Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) have received your request for Email ID verification request on KRA iTax online Portal. The KRA OTP Code will serve as the final approval of the new KRA Mail that you are going to use in KRA Portal.

You will enter the received KRA OTP Verification code and after doing that you will get a notification that your KRA Email has been changed successfully changed on KRA Portal and now you can proceed to download your new KRA PIN Certificate that will show your new KRA Email on it. 

Step 10: Download The Newly Updated KRA PIN Certificate With The New KRA Email

The last step will involve you downloading the KRA PIN Certificate with the new KRA Mail showing on it. At this point, the amendment and change of Mail has been completed and you will need to download the amended KRA PIN Certificate.
