There are cases whereby many taxpayers don’t know their KRA Password and end up locking their iTax Accounts due to entering wrong KRA Password more than 3 times. As a security measure the iTax Account gets locked temporarily. At this point you need to know how to change your KRA Password if your iTax gets locked.

Logging into KRA Portal or iTax is a process that requires you to have both your KRA PIN Number and iTax Password. To be able to access and view all the resources on iTax, you need to be logged into your iTax Account. The problem is that not that many Kenyans know the process that they need to follow.

No need to worry, I am going to show you the steps that you should take to unlock your KRA iTax Account online. Before we continue, you need to ensure that you have the following with you:

• KRA PIN Number
• iTax Registered Email Address

First and foremost, you need to ensure that you have with you your KRA PIN Number, if you have forgotten your KRA PIN Number, you can retrieve it online today at Cyber.co.ke Portal through the KRA PIN Retrieval services. Secondly, you need to have your iTax Registered Email Address. This is the email address that is associated with your KRA PIN on iTax Portal. This is important because the Password Reset will be sent to that email address. If you have forgotten your email address or would like to change it, you can also place Change of Email Address request online at Cyber.co.ke Portal.

How To Change KRA Password For Locked iTax Account

Step 1: Visit iTax Portal

The first thing you need to do is to access the KRA iTax Portal by using the link provided in the above description. 

Step 2: Enter Your KRA PIN Number

Next, you will be required to enter your KRA PIN number. Click on the “Continue” button to proceed to the next step. 

Step 3: Click on Forgot Password/Unlock Account Link

Next, you will need to click on the “Forgot Password/Unlock Account Link.” This is as illustrated below.

Step 4: KRA Forgot Password

In this step, you will fill in the security stamp (solve the arithmetic question) and click on the “Submit” button. Your new KRA password will be sent to your email address. 

Step 5: Access Your Email Address

Next, you will need to access your email address in order to get the KRA Password Reset. This is as shown below. 

Step 6: Enter KRA PIN, Password Reset and Security Stamp (Solve Arithmetic Question)

Here you will head back to the iTax Portal home page, enter your KRA PIN number followed by the Password Reset then solve the arithmetic question and click on the “Login” button.

Step 7: Set your New KRA iTax Password

In this step, you will have to set your new KRA iTax Password. You should put a KRA Password that will be easier for you to remember. Once you have entered your new iTax Password, click on the “Submit” button. 

Step 8: Password Successfully Changed

In this last step, you will get a notification pop up that your iTax Password has been successfully changed and you can use it to log into your iTax Account. 

 

An email notification will also be sent.
