Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is pleased to announce the migration of VAT and Income Tax Ledger balances from the Legacy System to the iTax System. Taxpayers have been informed of the migrated balances through their iTax registered email addresses.
Taxpayers can easily access these balances in their iTax profiles under the General Ledger, in the “Account Type – Taxpayer Legacy Account” Menu. Detailed statements of the migrated balances are available for download from iTax under the “Debt & Enforcement” Menu.
Please note that the debit/credit balances are subject to adjustments based on any additional information provided that was not previously considered by KRA in determining the migrated balance.
Validated credit balances that qualify as tax overpayments will be available for utilization in accordance with the provisions of Section 47(1)(a) of the Tax Procedures Act, CAP 469B.
It is important to understand that the migrated debit balances are not new tax assessments. Therefore, they are not demands or tax/appealable decisions subject to the objection or appeal process. These balances can be revalidated by both parties based on any additional information provided where applicable.
Taxpayers have until 31st December 2024 to raise any concerns regarding the migrated debit balances for resolution. Any debit balances remaining thereafter will be confirmed, and demand notices for the taxes due will be issued. However, taxpayers who agree with their communicated debit balances should arrange to pay the outstanding taxes.
During the revalidation process of ledger balances, taxpayers will not be denied Tax Compliance Certificates (TCCs) or any other tax services, provided all other legal requirements are met.
For any clarification on the migrated balances, taxpayers are advised to contact their nearest KRA Office or send an email using: [email protected]
